About the Baby Oprah Foundation

Advocates for the Disabled

Oprah Althea Bennett is a young girl with a big heart who has Down Syndrome. When Oprah was born the doctors told Oprah’s parents that she will never walk or talk because of her disability. That made her parents very determined to prove differently, so her mother decided to take matters into her own hands, by practicing simple exercises with the baby and buying educational toys. Eventually, Baby Oprah became a lover of music, modeling, and dancing. In fact, baby Oprah thinks that she is the only normal person on this earth, she is very proud, she loves fashion, modeling, and perfumes and she loves to attend parties. Oprah’s family saw the need to help others who have a disability or who are impoverished and are in need of help. As a result, The Baby Oprah Foundation was started in 2005 with a vision to “Advocating for the Disabled.” Through contributions, donations and fundraising events carried out by the foundation, we were able to donate several medical supplies to the May Pen hospital, Sir Golding Rehabilitation Center, Spanish Town Hospital and Lionel Town Hospital. Items such as a heart rate monitor, blood pressure monitor, apnea monitor, pampers, wheelchairs and motorized wheelchairs and walkers.  So far, the foundation has impacted the lives of several children and has assisted and volunteered at a few institutions in Clarendon, namely the Windsor School of Special Education and the May Pen Infirmary.

In addition, The Baby Oprah Foundation recognized the difficulties that are being experienced by the elderly and the many low-income families in Jamaica due to the Covid-19 pandemic and in keeping with our aim to advocate for the disabled, the elderly, and to assist the impoverished, the Baby Oprah Foundation donated hundreds of CARE PACKAGES to those who were in need of food in the May Pen Clarendon communities.

One of our goals is to acquire a building for a home for the foundation through the purchase of a property in order to erect a multipurpose structure so that those who are in need can benefit from daily meals, skills training, counseling, and job placement.

We are inviting you to be a member of The Baby Oprah Foundation, share in and bless us with your Contribution and Donation.
